No Injuries After Fire at Georgia Pacific Plant in Asheboro

ASHEBORO N.C. – No one was injured after a reported commercial fire at the Georgia Pacific Plant in Asheboro earlier this week.
On January 29th, 2024, at 1:01 p.m. Asheboro Fire and Rescue Department (AFRD) was dispatched to a commercial fire at 200 McDowell Rd.
The first unit arrived on scene at 1:04 p.m., reporting nothing showing from the exterior of the building. A representative with the company told fire crews there was a fire in one of the machines at the plant.
Firefighters were able to locate and extinguish the fire and the incident was under control at 1:20 p.m.
All personnel from the plant had been evacuated prior to the arrival of the fire department, and no injuries were reported.
