ASHEBORO — Two homicide suspects wanted in South Carolina were arrested on Friday in Randolph County, according to the Sheriff's Office. On May 3rd, law enforcement agencies in Randolph County received an alert from law enforcement officials out of York County, S.C. that two homicide suspects had left South Carolina and were heading north on I-85. Deputies from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office and other local law enforcement agencies began to work to locate the suspects. ASHEBORO — An Asheboro man has been charged and arrested in connection with a fatal hit and run earlier this month on I-73 near Greensboro. Around 7:30 a.m. on April 17th, 2024, the State Highway Patrol responded to a crash on I-73 south, near West Steeple Chase Road in Guilford County. According to the Highway Patrol, 55-year-old Clyde Strickland, of Raeford, N.C. was walking south on I-73 when he was struck by a vehicle. On Monday, April 22nd, the Highway Patrol was notified by medical staff that Strickland had succumbed to injuries. Following the crash the NC Highway Patrol sent out a press release to local media outlets asking for information to identify the vehicle and/or driver. ASHEBORO — An early-morning fiery crash in Asheboro has claimed the life of a local woman, according to the North Carolina Highway Patrol. At 6:25 a.m. on Tuesday, April 2, troopers with the Highway Patrol were dispatched to a vehicle crash on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive near Mountain Top Drive. According to a press release, 24-year-old Alvaro Cabrera Gudino, of Asheboro, was driving on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in a Honda minivan when she traveled off the right side of the road, struck a mailbox, a utility pole, and a tree. According to a press release from the Highway Patrol, at 9:25 p.m. on Thursday, February 22nd, 2024, Troopers responded to the report of a vehicle crash on US 64 at NC 49 in Ramseur. Investigators say 27-year-old Brandon Michael Schultheis was driving west on US 64 in a 2013 Dodge Charger police vehicle owned by the Town of Ramseur when he failed to stop at a traffic signal striking a 2016 Chevrolet Cruze. ASHEBORO N.C. - A convicted felon with a shotgun strapped to his motorcycle was arrested after crashing into a patrol vehicle earlier this week, according to police.  On December 5th, 2023, a deputy with the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office was on a call on Clifton Dr. in Archdale. According to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office, a motorcycle traveling south on Clifton Drive with no headlights struck the deputies patrol vehicle in the rear.  The operator, identified by the Sheriff’s Office as Thurman Earl Sampson, came to rest in front of the vehicle and was evaluated by Randolph County EMS.  While inspecting the damage to the vehicles, the deputy located a shotgun strapped on the motorcycle, and discovered that Sampson, the driver, is a convicted felon.  ...

Just after 10:30 p.m. Asheboro Fire/Rescue Department, Randolph County EMS, Asheboro Police, and the Randolph County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a two-vehicle accident involving a tractor trailer on I-73/74 northbound, near the Sunset Ave exit. RANDLEMAN N.C. - A driver who crashed head on into another vehicle while going the wrong way on I-73/74 near Randleman last weekend is facing several charges including DUI and child abuse. Shortly before midnight, Randolph County 911 had received a call from a driver who was taking the Randleman exit off I-73/74 onto West Academy St and reported they were nearly hit by a car that had entered the exit ramp going the wrong direction. Randolph County 911 notified both local police and deputies in the area as well as the highway patrol.
