Image Provided by CDC FOOD SAFETY ALERT (CDC) - The J. M. Smucker Co. is recalling select Jif® peanut butter products sold in the U.S. due to potential Salmonella contamination. Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis. Aromatherapy Spray Sold At Walmart Recalled Due to Rare and Dangerous Bacteria

ASHEBORO NC - Walmart is recalling an essential-oil aromatherapy spray after the CDC says it may have been linked to a rare and dangerous bacteria. Tests conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) determined that a bottle of the spray contained the rare and dangerous bacteria called Burkholderia pseudomallei. That bacteria causes melioidosis. a condition that is seen in Asia and Australia but in the U.S. is difficult to diagnose and can be fatal. The CDC said that they have been investigating a cluster of four confirmed cases of melioidosis in the U.S., two of which were fatal. The source of those four infections has not yet been confirmed, but samples taken by the CDC from a bottle of the Better Homes and Gardens Lavender & Chamomile aromatherapy room spray...

Food Safety Alert ASHEBORO NC - A manufacture of a baby rice cereal has issued a recall after routine sampling by the FDA found high levels of naturally occurring inorganic arsenic. Maple Island Inc. issued a voluntary recall of three lots of its Parent’s Choice Rice Baby Cereal which it manufactures for Walmart. The cereal was distributed to stores nationwide. Walmart says they have pulled the product from its shelves.
