(photo / map from NCDOT TIMS website) RANDLEMAN N.C. - The North Carolina Department of Transportation has issued a traffic alert for Monday March 4th, 2024, on I-73 near Randleman. On Monday March 4th, 2024, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., NC DOT will be closing the right lane at mile markers 84 and 83, located just north of the W Academy Street exit for road work. U.S. 421 to be Resurfaced in Portion of Randolph County

ASHEBORO N.C. - The North Carolina Department of Transportation has announced a $6.2 million contract has been awarded to bring improvements to nearly 15 miles of U.S. 421 in Chatham and Randolph counties. Under the contract companies will be preforming milling, resurfacing and shoulder reconstruction along both directions of U.S. 421 South between the Chatham County line and U.S. 64. Northbound and southbound ramps at exits 180 (Piney Grove Church Road), 181 (N.C. 49), and 183 (Old Liberty Road) will also be improved under the project. The work can start as soon as March 1 and wrap up in the fall of 2024.

LIBERTY N.C. - The North Carolina Department of Transportation says a portion of NC Hwy 49 in Liberty will be closed for several days as crews work to replace a crossline. According to a Traffic Incident Management System (TIMS) Alert sent out this morning Hwy 49 in Liberty will be closed between mile markers 36.4 to 37.3 (between S Valley St and Highfill St). Work is expected to start on Monday July 25th and end on Friday July 29th 2022. ASHEBORO N.C. - Officials are warning drivers of construction at the entrance/exit to the Asheboro Wal-Mart over the next 2 weeks. Detour Instructions EntranceThe entrance to the Wal-Mart parking lot has not changed. Drivers can enter where they normally would. ExitTo exit the parking lot use alternate on the east side of the parking lot near Burkes Outlet. Chick-fil-ATo reach Chick-fil-A use the entrance to Wal-Mart and after entering make a U-turn in the main parking lot and head out the normal exit until signs direct you off to the right to go through another parking lot to reach Chick-fil-A's parking lot from the rear. Dozens of Miles of Central NC Roads Set for Makeover

RALEIGH NC (NCDOT) – Nearly 70 miles of Central North Carolina roads will be resurfaced thanks to three contracts recently awarded by the N.C. Department of Transportation. The milling, resurfacing and shoulder grading projects are scheduled to be complete by the summer of 2022. Two of the contracts cover nearly 55 miles of secondary roads in Chatham County and were awarded to Fred Smith Company with low bids of $2.3 million and $2.5 million. The other contract, covering nearly 12 miles of roadway in Randolph County including three sections of U.S. 64, was also awarded to Fred Smith Company with a low bid of just over $2 million.
