ASHEBORO N.C. - The Asheboro Fire Rescue Department responded to two house fires, one on Sunday and another Monday. On Sunday December 17th, 2023, at 3:30 p.m. Asheboro Fire and Rescue Department (AFRD) was dispatched to a structure fire at 430 Glovinia St. AFRD via Facebook AFRD via Facebook Units with C-shift arrived within two minutes to find heavy smoke coming from the residence. An initial and secondary search located no one in the home. Crews reported the scene under control at 3:52 p.m. After the fire the house was turned back over to the occupants. At around 6 p.m. on Aug 23rd, 2023, emergency crews were called to 23 S Fayetteville St, in Asheboro for a pedestrian that was struck by a vehicle. Crews arrived to find a pedestrian lying in the crosswalk near the Magnolia 23 restaurant with witnesses in the roadway trying to assist him. According to several of those witnesses, the vehicle that struck the man made a left from S Fayetteville St on to Sunset Ave and fled the scene. The victim was transport...

Asheboro Police Responded to Shots Fired Last Weekend

ASHEBORO N.C. - Over the weekend Asheboro Police responded to a call about shots fired just a block away from the police station. According to a police report from the Asheboro Police Department, on Nov 12th, 2022, officers responded to the area of S Fayetteville St. and W. Academy St. in reference to a report of shots fired. Randolph County 911 advised that the occupants of two vehicles, a white passenger car and a black passenger car, were shooting at each other as the vehicles were traveling on the roadway. Officers saturated the area but did not locate either vehicle or any victims. A police sergeant located eleven spent 9mm shell casings in the roadway which were placed into evidence. Anyone with information is asked to contact Randolph County Crime Stoppers.
