ASHEBORO N.C. — A local teenager was airlifted following a crash yesterday evening that shutdown US-64, according to the Highway Patrol. Just after 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 28th, 2024, the State Highway Patrol was called to respond to a vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 64 near Loflin Pond Road.  According to a press release from the Highway Patrol, an 18-year-old driver in a 2011 Honda SUV attempted to turn left onto U.S. Highway 64 from the Dollar General PVA and collided with a 2020 Toyota Pickup. The teen driver was severely injured and was airlifted to UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill. The driver of the 2020 Toyota Pickup, along with an adult passenger, were transported to Randolph Health for non-life-threatening injuries. The N.C. Dept of Transportation closed both directions...

ASHEBORO N.C. – Authorities are searching for a suspect vehicle that fled the scene after being involved in a collision on US 64 in Randolph County Wednesday evening, leaving another driver seriously injured. According to the N.C. Highway Patrol, at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13th, 2024, troopers responded to the report of a crash that occurred on US 64 near Westbury Drive in Randolph County. Investigators say that a black 2017 Lexus RX 350 SUV traveling east, unlawfully passed a 2016 Toyota passenger car in a turning lane, resulting in a collision that sent the Toyota off the roadway to the right, striking an embankment, and a tree. ASHEBORO N.C. – Today, Highway Patrol investigators are scheduled to confer with the District Attorney’s Office to review potential charges stemming from a vehicle accident involving a Ramseur officer. According to a press release from the Highway Patrol, at 9:25 p.m. on Thursday, February 22nd, 2024, Troopers responded to the report of a vehicle crash on US 64 at NC 49 in Ramseur. Investigators say 27-year-old Brandon Michael Schultheis was driving west on US 64 in a 2013 Dodge Charger police vehicle owned by the Town of Ramseur when he failed to stop at a traffic signal striking a 2016 Chevrolet Cruze. ASHEBORO N.C. - A driver is facing multiple charges after the Sheriff's Office says he crashed into a street sign and a patrol vehicle while intoxicated behind the wheel. On June 10th, 2023, Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Deputies returning from a call were traveling westbound on US Hwy 64 E when near Substation Rd (near the 64-bypass split) they observed a vehicle that had crashed into a street sign in the median. According to a press release, the deputies turned around to investigate the welfare of the driver, when they saw the vehicle come across the median stop in the middle of both lanes facing oncoming traffic. FRANKLINVILLE N.C. - A head on collision on US 64 claimed the life of a Franklinville resident on Wednesday afternoon. Just after 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 10th, 2023, emergency crews responded to a vehicle crash on US 64 near Iron Mountain Road. According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, Wanda Cox Allred, 74, of Franklinville, N.C., was traveling west on US 64 operating a 2019 Honda CR-V when a driver of a 2006 Mercedes Benz crossed the centerline, striking her vehicle head-on. Allred died on-scene. The driver of the Mercedes Benz suffered serious life-threatening injuries and was transported to Moses H. Cone Hospital in Greensboro.
