Driver in Wrong-Way Crash on I-73/74 Charged with DUI
RANDLEMAN N.C. - A driver who crashed head on into another vehicle while going the wrong way on I-73/74 near Randleman last weekend is facing several charges including DUI and child abuse.
Shortly before midnight, Randolph County 911 had received a call from a driver who was taking the Randleman exit off I-73/74 onto West Academy St and reported they were nearly hit by a car that had entered the exit ramp going the wrong direction. Randolph County 911 notified both local police and deputies in the area as well as the highway patrol.
Within only a few minuites, at 11:57 p.m. Randolph County 911 received its first call reporting a wrong way driver had crashed head on into another vehicle in the southbound lanes of I-73/74 between the Randleman exit and the Randleman Lake Bridge.
