ASHEBORO N.C. - It's been 22 years since terrorist hijacked and crashed planes into the world trade center, pentagon, and a field in Pennsylvania. This year, as with all years, we gather to remember those lost on that tragic day so that we may never forget. Asheboro 9/11 Memorial Ruck Asheboro Fire Department - Sept 11th, 2023, 8 AM Every year since 2016 firefighters with the Asheboro Fire/Rescue Department have gathered on 9/11 for a 9.11 mile ruck to honor and remember those lost on 9/11. This year is no different. Open to the public, anyone is welcome to come make the long walk through the streets of Asheboro (with or without a Ruk or weighted vest), or just to come out and support local heroes.
