ASHEBORO NC– The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook ahead of possible severe weather forecast for Thursday.
WHAT IS EXPECTED
Numerous strong to severe thunderstorms are expected Thursday. These storms will bring with them the possibility of damaging straight-line winds, large hail, and a few significant tornadoes. In a weather briefing, Wednesday afternoon meteorologist stated that the potential for significant severe tornadoes (EF2+) covers all of central NC.
WHERE
All of central North Carolina can experience severe thunderstorms on Thursday. However, the worst of the storms are expected to occur 30 miles on either side of the US-1 corridor.
WHEN
For Randolph County, severe weather is expected between 12 PM and 3 PM.
STAY INFORMED
Get weather alerts via NOAA Weather Radio, through apps like FEMA or the Red Cross. Randolph County also offers alerts through REACT (Randolph Emergency Alert Communication Technology).

Asheboro City Schools – Due to the threat of inclement weather in the form of strong thunderstorms and high winds, tomorrow will be a remote learning day for all ACS students. Students are expected to connect with their classes virtually on Thursday, March 18.
NC Zoo – Due to potentially severe weather, the Zoo will be closed to the public Thursday, March 18, 2021
