ASHEBORO N.C. - The National Weather Service Office in Raleigh has issued a Freeze Watch for Randolph County for Late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning with temperatures expected to dip into the low 30's. According to forecasters at the National Weather Service Office in Raleigh, a cold front will move through the region tonight, followed by light rain from an upper disturbance overnight through Tuesday evening. High pressure will then build into the area behind the cold front, bringing the coldest air so far this season. Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 30 possible in Randolph and surrounding counties late Tuesday night through Wednesday morning. ASHEBORO N.C. - The Randolph County Sheriff's Office says a recent narcotics investigation in Seagrove led to the seizure of eight pounds of cocaine and the arrest of one suspect. According to a press release from the Sheriff's Office, on September 11, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Vice and Narcotics Unit concluded an investigation related to the distribution of Cocaine in the Seagrove area ofRandolph County. That investigation led to Detectives locating and seizing approximately eight pounds of Cocaine and arrested Octavius Cornelius Spinks at a residence on Osborne Mill Rd. ASHEBORO N.C. - Charges are stacking up against a suspect with several active warrants who fled on foot from deputies and was located hiding in a crawlspace by a police K9. According to a press release, on July 13th, 2023, a Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Detective in the area of Erect Rd., Seagrove, observed a male subject acting suspicious. Upon the detective pulling into the driveway of the residence the male fled on foot. The detective was advised that the male was James Henry Bolton-McKee, who had active warrants for his arrest. ASHEBORO N.C. - The Randolph County Sheriff's Office has charged two individuals with nine counts of felony cruelty to animals after Animal Services allegedly found malnourished and dead dogs on their property. According to a press release by the Sheriff's Office, On July 12th, 2023, the Sheriff’s Office responded to assist Randolph County Animal Services who had responded to a call about an aggressive dog on Searcy Rd. Ext, in Seagrove. Animal Control Officer had located abandoned and malnourished dogs outside of the home; two of which were deceased. The caller had also reported there were multiple dogs inside the residence that no one was taking care of. One Charged after Vehicle Chase End in Crash in Seagrove

SEAGROVE N.C. - One person was arrested after a short vehicle chase ended in a crash in Seagrove last week. According to J. Auman Chief of Police for the Seagrove Police Department, just after 2 p.m. on July 17th, 2023, while on patrol in the town, he ran a tag on a vehicle that came back as ficticious. Chief Auman says when he attempted to pull over the driver on Little River Road near Boone Farm Rd, the suspect failed to yield, leading to a brief vehicle pursuit. The chase ended after only around one mile when the driver lost control and crashed into an embankment while making a turn from Little River Rd on to Old Troy Rd. ASHEBORO N.C. - Forecasters are warning that dangerously hot temperatures are expected across much of central North Carolina later this week and into the weekend. Starting Wednesday and into Thursday, heat and humidity will roll into the area with highs in the lower 90s and heat-index values reaching into the mid-90's. The real threat from dangerous heat starts on Friday and extends through Sunday. Heat advisory and/or warnings are expected during this time as hot temperatures combined with high humidity will push heat index values into the upper 90s to above 100 degrees over central NC, according to forecasters with the National Weather Service in Raleigh.
