Vehicle Stop Leads To Trafficing Charges For Texas Man

ASHEBORO NC – A Texas man is facing felony drug trafficking charges after deputies say they found over 5 lbs. of cocaine in his vehicle during a traffic stop.

According to a press release by the Randolph County Sherriff’s Office on March 11th, 2021, deputies with the Sherriff’s Offices Highway Criminal Interdiction Team pulled over a vehicle on I-85 in Trinity that was registered out of Texas. At some point during the stop, deputies searched the vehicle and say they discovered approximately 2,376.5 grams (5.2 pounds) of Cocaine and US Currency.

The driver of the vehicle, Juan Gabriel-Molina Gonzales, was transported to Randolph County Detention Center and charged with two counts of Felony Trafficking in Cocaine. He was given a $350,000 Secured Bond with a first appearance in Randolph County District Court on March 12, 2021.
