Grand Jury Hands Down Indictments for Drug Trafficking

ASHEBORO N.C. - This month the Randolph County Grand Jury handed down indictments for a local woman on several drug and trafficking charges. During the November 2023 session of the Randolph County Grand Jury, True Bill of Indictments were issued on Erica Lynn Locklear for the distribution of narcotics in Randolph County. According to the Randolph County Sheriff's Office, these indictments were issued as a result of investigations conducted by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Vice Narcotics Unit. Erica Lynn Locklear has been indicted for multiple felony drug charges. She was served on November 18, 2023, and received a $250,000 secured bond. Driver & Passenger Asleep at Intersection – Drugs, Alcohol, Gun Located, Says RCSO

TRINITY N.C. - A driver is facing felony drug charges and misdemeanor DUI and gun charges after police say they found him and his passenger asleep at an intersection in a running vehicle. On October 20th, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff's Office responded to the intersection of NC Hwy 62 and Surrett Dr., in Trinity, for a welfare check on a vehicle stopped at an intersection with the driver slumped over at the wheel. According to a press release from the Sheriff's Office, when the deputy approached the vehicle they smelled the "strong odor of marijuana and alcohol emitting from the vehicle and an open bottle of alcohol was observed in the backseat of the vehicle." On August 20th, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Team conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 85 north near mile marker 109, in Trinity. During that stop, officers say they located approximately forty-four pounds of cocaine in the "trunk area" of the vehicle. According to a police report from the department, on June 28th, 2023, the VICE/Narcotics along with members of the Special Enforcment Team executed a search warrant at Summer Run apartments located at 2159 N. According to a police report on February 15th, 2023, officers with the department's VICE & Narcotics unit and the Special Enforcment Team conducted a search warrant for apartment 205 at the Sunset Place Apartments. ASHEBORO N.C. - A local man has been charged with multiple felonies after a search warrant of his home turned up enough drugs for police to seek trafficking charges. On June 9th, 2022, the Asheboro Police Departments' VICE/ Narcotics unit executed a search warrant at a home on Finchley Ct, located off Gold Hill Rd in Asheboro. According to a report from the department officers located and seized around 35 grams of Fentanyl and approximately 4.5 grams of cocaine and marijuana, along with cash, scales, baggies, and other paraphernalia. Maurice Gerald Lewis has been charged with trafficking-opium, possession with intent, maintain dwelling for controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.

ASHEBORO NC - On April 29th, 2021, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Highway Criminal Interdiction Team says they pulled over a vehicle on I-74 near Archdale. When officers searched the vehicle they say they located cocaine.Two individuals were arrested and transported to Randolph County Jail where the magistrate found probable cause for charges. Cierra Storm White was charged with Felony Possession of Cocaine and Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana up to ½ oz.
