Firefighters Battle Semi-Truck Fire & The Heat

ASHEBORO NC (ACME NEWS) – This afternoon firefighters battled a semi-truck fire and the heat. Just before 3:30 PM Randolph County 911 was notified of a semi-truck on fire. The vehicle was in the parking lot of the Deep River Rail Trail on Hwy 64 E, just prior to the Ramseur city limits. When the Franklinville Fire Department arrived they reported the truck was fully involved. The fire was knocked down within minutes. Once the fire was out the heat became the next problem.

Several firefighters were evaluated by EMS on scene for heat related injuries. At least one was assisted to an ambulance by EMS. A second ambulance, Randolph County Emergency Management, and the Technical Support Unit, all responded to assist.

According to officials no one was transported from the scene. Randolph County Sheriff’s Office was on scene to assist with traffic. Troopers with the NC Highway patrol also responded. The Randolph County Fire Marshals Office is investigating the fire but has not released any information at this time.
