Woman Charged with Insurance Fraud after Vehicle Fire in Randleman

RANDLEMAN N.C. – A woman is facing multiple felonies including felony insurance fraud related to a vehicle fire in Randleman late last year. According to a press release by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, on September 20th, 2023, deputies responded to Adams Farm Rd., in Randleman for a vehicle fire.  Evidence gathered at the scene and an investigation by the Randolph County Fire Marshal’s Office concluded that the fire was set intentionally.   The investigation led the Sheriff’s Office’s Criminal Investigations Division to seek charges against the vehicle owner, identified in the press release as 38-year-old Jodean Marie Stillwell, for felony insurance fraud, felony burning personal property, and felony attempt to obtain property by false pretense. ASHEBORO N.C. - Just before 4 p.m. Thursday afternoon, fire crews with the Asheboro Fire Rescue Department responded to 1233 N Fayetteville St for a report of a vehicle on fire inside of a bay at a mechanic shop. According to a press release, AFRD units arrived on scene at 3:50 p.m. to find a truck on fire inside a building. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire and set up ventilation to clear the building of smoke. The cause of the incident was unintentional, and damages were estimated at $3,000. Reports indicate there were no injuries. Both southbound lanes of N Fayetteville St, were closed and vehicles were detoured onto the turning lane while crews were on-scene. ...

Firefighters put out a vehicle fire at Energizer Plant 1's employee parking on Aug 25th, 2023. [Scott Pelkey | North State Journal] ASHEBORO N.C. - Asheboro Firefighters are on the scene of a vehicle fire in the employee parking lot at Energizer Plant #1 that triggered an evacuation of the plant after the fire alarm was triggered. At around 6 p.m. on Friday Aug 25th, 2023, Firefighters with Asheboro Fire/Rescue responded to Energizer Plant #1, located at 800 Albemarle Rd, for a vehicle fire in the employee parking. RANDLEMAN N.C. - Crews from the Level Cross Fire Department, bringing the departments squad truck to Randleman for service, had to call fellow firefighters after a small electrical fire started inside the truck. Early this afternoon two firefighters with the Level Cross Fire Department were bringing the departments old squad truck (used for medical and rescue calls) into Randleman to diagnose a problem with the apparatus was having starting. According to officials on scene a small electrical fire started in the center console, where the radios and other equipment for lighting and sirens are located. ASHEBORO N.C. - At around 5:30 pm firefighters with the Asheboro Fire Department were called to 554 E Dixie Dr in Asheboro. A 911 caller reported a pick-up truck at the back of the carwash next the Cookout was on fire. When crews arrived they found an older model Chevrolet Silverado 2500 on fire at the back of the parking lot near Cox Ave. The fire was quickly extinguished. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is not yet know.
