Franklinville United Methodist Church is being torn down after one of its walls collapsed. (PJ WARD-BROWN/NORTH STATE JOURNAL) FRANKLINEVILLE N.C. - Members of the Franklinville United Methodist Church are saving what they can as the church is demolished following a wall collapse last week. On the night of July 6th, 2023, emergency crews responded to the Franklinville United Methodist Church on S. Main St after receiving a report of a commercial fire. Arriving units reported didn't find a fire, but rather a partial structure collapse of one of the walls of the church with a strong smell of gas. Driver Taken to Hospital After Crashing into Side of Verizon Store

[Scott Pelkey | North State Journal] ASHEBORO N.C. - The driver of a grey SUV was taken to the hospital this evening after crashing into the side of the Verizon store in Asheboro. Just before 7pm on April 10th, 2023, Randolph County 911 dispatched emergency crews to 1304 E Dixie Dr, in Asheboro, for a report of a vehicle crash. Callers reported a vehicle had gone down an embankment and crashed into the side of the Verizon store on E Dixie Dr. Asheboro Fire and Police, Westside Fire, Eastside Fire, Franklinville Fire, Ash-Rand Rescue, and Randolph County EMS all responded to the scene. Fire hoses at a fire engine,(Семен Саливанчук/Adobe Stock) ASHEBORO N.C. - Investigators with the Fire Marshal’s office are trying to determine what started a house fire Sunday that sent 3 people to the hospital. According to the Randolph County Fire Marshal’s Office, on Sunday at 11:35AM crews from Staley, Liberty and Franklinville Fire Departments responded to a call for a residential structure fire on White Lake Dr. When firefighters arrived they found a working fire at a single story home. At the time of the fire there were 7 adults in the home. All occupants were able to exit the structure.
