Police Say Driver Tried To Toss Stolen Gun During Traffic Stop

ASHEBORO NC – A driver on a traffic stop was arrested last week after according to police he tried to toss a stolen gun into the woods. That’s according to a press release from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office. They say on on August 7, 2021, deputies pulled over a car on I-73/74 just south of the US 64 Bypass. While the deputy was speaking with the passenger, the driver was seen throwing something it into the tall grassy area on the side of the highway. When deputies searched that area they found a firearm that had been reported stolen to the Davie County Sheriff’s Office.

That driver was identified as Christopher Tre’Lonnie Everette, who was arrested and taken to the Randolph County Jail. There a magistrate found probable cause for the charges of Felony Possession of a Stolen Firearm and Misdemeanor Driving While License Revoked. He was issued a $15,000 secured bond with a court date of August 9, 2021.
