Suspect Pulled Over Driving Stolen Forklift

ASHEBORO NC – A suspect learned that a forklift makes a terrible get-a-way vehicle after police say they pulled him over driving the stolen vehicle.

According to a press release on September 12th, 2021, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Davis Country Rd., after getting a call that a suspect was actively stealing a forklift. Deputies arrived in the area and say they located the forklift traveling on Branson Davis Rd. toward Hwy 311 and were able to pull the driver over at the intersection of Branson Davis Rd. and Knoll Dr. Police identified the suspect as Robert Wayne Baxter who was placed under arrest and transported to the Randolph County Jail. There the magistrate found probable cause for charges of Felony Larceny of a Motor Vehicle, Felony Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle, Felony Larceny of Construction Equipment and Felony Possession of Stolen Goods.
