Local Man Found Dead in Asheboro; Police Investigating

ASHEBORO N.C. (ACME NEWS) – Police are investigating how a local man who had been reported missing ended up deceased in a wooded area near an Asheboro apartment complex yesterday.

On March 9th, 2022, around noon, patrol officers with the Asheboro Police Department were called to the 700 block of Breeze Hill Road, after getting a call about a missing person last seen in the area the day before. In a press release the Asheboro Police Department says that early information gathered at the scene led to detectives with the department’s Criminal Investigations Division being called to lead the investigation as well as for additional personnel being requested to conduct a search of the area. It’s not clear what the information was but the Departments Emergency Response Team (SWAT Team) were seen on scene in full gear.

At approximately 3:00 PM, police say they located 40 year-old Robert Elridge Maddox deceased in a wooded area near the apartments. The Asheboro Police Department says the investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Johnson at 336-626- 1300, ext. 310.
