On the February 9th 2024, at around 9:30 a.m. officers from the Asheboro Police Department were dispatched to 611 East Central Avenue, Apartment C, in reference to a reported assault. According to a press release, officers spoke with the victim who advised she was assaulted by her boyfriend, identified by police as Matthew Thomas Watts.  The victim told officers Watts was inside the residence with their 4-month-old child. (ACME NEWS) - Police are investigating how a local man who had been reported missing ended up deceased in a wooded area near an Asheboro apartment complex yesterday. On March 9th, 2022, around noon, patrol officers with the Asheboro Police Department were called to the 700 block of Breeze Hill Road, after getting a call about a missing person last seen in the area the day before. In a press release the Asheboro Police Department says that early information gathered at the scene led to detectives with the department's Criminal Investigations Division being called to lead the investigation as well as for additional personnel being requested to conduct a search of the area. ASHEBORO NC - The Sherriff's Office's Vice/Narcotics division executed two search warrants last week leading to two arrests. According to the Randolph County Sherriff's Office, on June 17, 2021, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Vice/Narcotics Unit, along with the Urban Criminal Interdiction Team, concluded an investigation related to the distribution of Heroin in the Sophia / Randleman area. That investigation led to deputies conducting a traffic stop on a vehicle being driven by Alfredo Antonio Palacios, Jr. near Pineview St. in Asheboro, as well as a search warrant being executed on Palacios residence located on Old Marlboro Rd. in Sophia.
