3 Arrests Following Multi-Agency Operation Into Child Pornography Cybertips

ASHEBORO N.C. – During National Child Abuse Awareness Month the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office worked with local, state, and federal agencies for a special joint operation investigating cybertips traced to locations within Randolph County.

According to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office on April 13th and 14th, 2022, the agencies Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Team conducted Operation “I See You“, focusing on child pornography cybertips, to determine the validity of just over 100 pending tips by conducting interviews, computer examinations, cell phone data extractions, and analyzing evidence.

The Sheriff’s office says the joint operation included a combination of agents, analysts, ICAC and forensic detectives from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Winston-Salem, North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations, National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, HSI Charlotte, HSI Victim Assistance Program, Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, Wadesboro Police Department, Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office, Liberty Police Department, Asheboro Police Department, Alamance County Sheriff’s Office, Guilford County Sheriff’s Office, and Pinehurst Police Department.

The operation was to determine the validity of just over 100 pending cybertips by conducting interviews, computer examinations, cell phone data extractions, and analyzing evidence.

At the end of the two-day operation, teams effectively closed 78 cybertips. Currently at the time of posting this article three subjects have been charged, with charges pending on two other individuals. Four juvenile victims were also identified. The investigations are ongoing and additional charges may be forthcoming.
