[UPDATE] Suspect Charged With Murder After Victim Found Unconscious In Home Dies

ASHEBORO N.C. – A suspect has been charged with Felony Assault after police say the found a victim unconscious in a home in Ramseur.

According to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, on May 23rd, 2022, deputies with the patrol division responded to Fox Grove Rd., in Ramseur, after getting a call about an assault. When emergency crews arrived they located the victim unconscious inside the residence. Fire and EMS provided medical treatment before transporting the victim to an area hospital.

The Sheriff’s Office says Criminal Investigation Detectives and CSI took over the investigation which led to warrants being issued for Felony Assault with Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Causing Serious Bodily Injury for the suspect, who officials identified as Patrick Andre Marley.

On May 24, 2022, at 5:15 pm, Marley was arrested by the Criminal Apprehension Team and taken before the magistrate at the Randolph County Jail. He was issued a $150,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for May 25, 2022, in Randolph County District Court.

Police say Marley knew the victim but no motive has been established. The Sheriff’s Office says the investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be forthcoming. The victim remains
hospitalized.


UPDATE 5/26/22 1:00 pm – Today the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office was notified that the victim, identified as 36-year-old Andrew Roberson Marley III, had succumbed to the injuries from the assault. An additional Warrant was sought and the magistrate found probable cause to issue a Warrant for Arrest for Felony Murder. Marley, currently confined in the Detention Center, was served his warrant and a bond was not authorized. A first appearance on this charge was set for May 26, 2022, in Randolph County District Court.

This is an ongoing investigation and additional charges may be forthcoming.
