Sheriff’s Office Taking Applications for Junior Sheriff’s Academy

ASHEBORO N.C. – The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office is taking applications for its annual Junior Sheriff’s Academy scheduled for three, one-week, sessions this summer as well as a special one-day camp for student with special needs.

The Junior Sheriff’s Academy is offered by the School Based Programs Division of the Sheriff’s Office. The program is designed for middle school and high school students, between the ages of 12 and 15, that may be interested in a career in public service such as Law Enforcement, Fire, and/or EMS.

Students will experience teamwork, peer mentoring, discipline, leadership building skills, K-9 demonstrations, crime scene investigation, rappelling and more.

To attend, students must reside in Randolph County, have generally good behavior in school, and be willing to participate and to try new things.

Transportation and meals are provided, and there is no cost to participate.

The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office hosts the Junior Sheriff’s Academy every summer. This year the program will run three one-week sessions scheduled for June 26-30, July 24-28 and August 7-11.

Students should see their S.R.O. for a registration packet, more details and information! Packets are also available at the front desk of Sheriff’s Office locations at 727 McDowell Rd., Asheboro and 402 Balfour Dr., Archdale. Application deadline is May 12, 2023.

Junior Sheriff’s Academy for Randolph County Functional Learning (FL) students

This year will also be the second annual Junior Sheriff’s Academy for Randolph County Functional Learning (FL) students. The Sheriff’s Office is looking for male and female middle school and high school students that have an interest in meeting and spending the day with Randolph County First Responders.

Students will experience a canine demonstration, the Sheriff’s Emergency Response Team, the Motor Unit, fire department, with “great food and much more”.

This will be a one-day camp on August 18, 2023 from 9 am – 1 pm. It will be held at Southwestern Randolph High School, 1641 Hopewell Friends Rd., Asheboro, NC 27205.
