ASHEBORO N.C. – Sheriff’s deputies responding to a burglary of a vehicle ended up on a manhunt today that captured one suspect while another remains on the loose.
Earlier today, April 3, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office says they were called to Cameron Dr, in Asheboro, for a report of a burglary of a vehicle.
According to a press release, when deputies arrived, they gathered information and determined two suspects had fled the area just prior to arrival; one into the woods to the west of the residence and the other male walking south on Cameron Dr. toward Robbins Cir.
Additional deputies responded to set up and patrol the perimeter and search for the suspects. K9 Sarge was deployed in an attempt to locate the suspects. One suspect, identified by the Sheriff’s Office as Ryan Michael Barker, was located lying in the wooded area.
Barker was arrested and taken to the Randolph County Jail where the magistrate found probable cause for the charge of felony breaking into a vehicle. He was issued a $10,000 secure bond and his first appearance was set April 3, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
The second suspect was not located at the scene; the investigation is ongoing.
