Man Fired Gun in Argument, Arrested and Charged

ASHEBORO N.C. – A local man is facing criminal charges after the Sheriff’s Office says he fired a gun out his car window following an argument.

On March 19, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Branson Mill Rd., Randleman, in reference to an armed person. When deputies arrived, the victim told them that Abijah John Lewis II, had driven to his home and an argument ensued in the driveway, according to a press release.

Police say as Lewis was backing out of the driveway, he fired a weapon out the driver’s side window. Criminal Investigations and CSI responded to the scene and evidence was collected which led to charges being sought on Lewis for felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. 

On March 29, 2023, Lewis was placed under arrest at the Randolph County Detention Center and served the outstanding warrant. He was taken before the magistrate, who issued a $2,500 secured bond and set his next court date for March 31, 2023m in Randolph County District Court.
