Fire Crews Responds to Commercial Fire in Asheboro

ASHEBORO N.C. – Fire crews in Asheboro are on the scene of a commercial equipment fire that is under control at this time.

Just before 5:30 pm, Randolph County 911 dispatched Asheboro Fire/Rescue to 2503 N Fayetteville St, located near the intersection of Pineview St, at Covanta Enviromental Solutions. Callers reported a fire inside a piece of machinery at the business.

Asheboro Fire/Rescue’s on scene command reported the fire under control at around 6 pm. No injuries have been reported so far.

UPDATE 5/15/23 4:30 PM – Asheboro Fire/Rescue Department has released details about the fire on May 10th, 2023, at Covanta Enviromental Solutions.

According to a press release from the department on May 10th, 2023, at 5:10 pm, Asheboro Fire and Rescue Department (AFRD) was dispatched to a commercial fire at 2503 N Fayetteville St.

Crews arrived on scene within 5 minutes to find a fire inside a shredder at the business.

The cause of the incident was a failure of equipment that caused debris to ignite, and the machine was still operational after the fire was extinguished at 6:02 pm.

No injuries were reported.
