One Killed in Asheboro Motorcycle Crash

ASHEBORO N.C. – One person was killed, and another charged, in connection with a fatal motorcycle crash in Asheboro on Saturday.

At around 2pm on Saturday June 10th, 2023, emergency crews responded to a report of a 2-vehicle crash in front of the McDonalds at 1436 N Fayetteville St, in Asheboro, N.C.

According to an accident report by the Asheboro Police Department, Ashley Renee Phillips was attempting to make a left hand turn out of the parking lot of McDonalds onto N Fayetteville St (US 220 Bus) but failed to yield for an oncoming motorcycle. That on-coming motorcycle struck the front left quarter panel with its front end resulting in the driver and passenger of the motorcycle being thrown from the vehicle.

According to Randolph County EMS, the male driver of the motorcycle was transported non-emergency to an area trauma center.

The female passenger of the motorcycle, identified by police as Frances Viola Saunders Parrish, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Phillips has been charged with Misdemeanor Death by Motor Vehicle an Unsafe Movement by the Asheboro Police Department and was given a court date of June 26th, 2023.
