Sheriff Office Charges Man with Sex Crimes

ASHEBORO N.C. – The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office has charged a local man with sex crimes involving a minor.

On May 31, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office says they received a report of sexual acts upon minors.

According to a press release, “following an investigation of the allegations, Criminal Investigation Detectives sought charges against Aaron Thomas Garner for three counts of felony first degree statutory sex offense with a child under 13 years of age.”

On June 6, 2023, Garner was located, arrested, and transported to the Randolph County Jail, where he was served the warrants. The magistrate issued a $500,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for June 7, 2023, in Randolph County District Court. His next court date is scheduled for June 28th, 2023.

The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be forthcoming.

UPDATE – Following an investigation by the Randolph County Criminal Investigations Division, additional
charges were sought against Aaron Thomas Garner for seventeen counts of felony first degree statutory sex offense with a child under 13 years of age and the magistrate found probable cause for the warrant. Still confined at the Randolph County Detention Center, Garner was served the warrant on June 13, 2023. The magistrate issued a $1,000,000 secured bond for these charges. A first appearance was set for June 14, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
