Suspect Wanted in Colorado Sex Crime Case Located and Arrested in Asheboro

ASHEBORO N.C. - A suspect wanted in a sex crime case in Colorado was located and arrested in Asheboro last week. On August 24th, 2023, a detective with the Boulder Police Department in Boulder, Colorado, contacted the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Apprehension Team (CAT) about locating Nehemias Lopez, who was wanted on a Felony Sexual Assault-Physically Helpless charge. Boulder Police Department had been actively looking for Lopez for several months and believed that Lopez had fled from Colorado to Asheboro, NC. Sheriff Office Charges Man with Sex Crimes

ASHEBORO N.C. - The Randolph County Sheriff's Office has charged a local man with sex crimes involving a minor. On May 31, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office says they received a report of sexual acts upon minors. According to a press release, "following an investigation of the allegations, Criminal Investigation Detectives sought charges against Aaron Thomas Garner for three counts of felony first degree statutory sex offense with a child under 13 years of age." On June 6, 2023, Garner was located, arrested, and transported to the Randolph County Jail, where he was served the warrants. Suspect in Sex Crime Case Arrested in N.Y.

ASHEBORO N.C. - A man wanted as a suspect in a sex crime case in Randolph County was arrested in N.Y. state last month. On February 6th, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office received a report of sexual acts upon minors. An investigation led to Detectives obtaining charges against Sherwin McDonald Edwards for six counts of felony indecent liberties with a child and two counts statutory sex offense with a child under 15 years of age. Efforts to locate Edwards were unsuccessful and on April 17th, 2023, the apprehension case was assigned to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Apprehension Team (CAT) who obtained intel that Edwards had fled from NC. Fort Bragg Soldier Arrested for Sex Crime in Liberty

LIBERTY N.C. - A Fort Bragg soldier is in the Randolph County Jail tonight after police say he traveled to Liberty after soliciting sex with a child. In April of 2023, Liberty Police began an investigation regarding a sex crime involving a child. That investigation revealed that a Fort Brag solider had agreed to pay a family member for sex with a handicapped child. On May 6th, 2023, the soldier, identified by police as Schuyler Grant Naves, was arrested when he arrived in Liberty. He is currently being held on a $1,000,000 bond at the Randolph County Jail and is scheduled to appear in Randolph County Court on June 2nd, 2023. Asheboro Man Arrested for Sex Crime

ASHEBORO N.C. - A local man is in jail after being charged with rape by the Sheriff's Office. On December 14, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a sexual crime. In a press release the Sheriff's Office says, "following a lengthy investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division, charges were sought against Christopher James Hazelwood of Asheboro, for felony 2nd degree forcible rape." The Sheriff's Offices' Criminal Apprehension Team located Hazelwood, on March 29th, 2023, during the execution of a search warrant. Hazelwood was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Jail, where he was served the warrant. The magistrate issued a $150,000 secured bond. ASHEBORO N.C. - The Grand Jury has indicted a local man for multiple felonies involving sexual crimes with a minor. On December 29, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office received information regarding allegations of sexual offenses involving minors. Following an investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division, charges were sought against Christopher Lee Clark for two counts of felony indecent liberties with a child, two counts felony disseminate obscenity, six counts felony first degree statutory sex offense, and misdemeanor assault on a child under 12 years of age. ASHEBORO N.C. - A local school counselor who recently resigned after allegations that he was messaging students inappropriately is now facing multiple felony sex crime charges.
