ASHEBORO N.C. — A multi-vehicle accident has shut down I-73/74 southbound near the West Presnell Street exit.
Just after 5 p.m. Randolph County 9-1-1 received multiple calls about several vehicles involved in a collision on I-73/74 near the Sunset Ave exit.
Asheboro Fire and Rescue and Westside Fire Departments were dispatched and located two accident scenes.
Two vehicles, including one overturned blocking both lanes of travel, were located on I-73/74 at the West Presnell Street exit. All traffic was being diverted off the interstate onto the Presnell St exit.
A second single vehicle was located on the shoulder of the southbound lanes near the Sunset Ave exit on I-73/74.
Troopers with the N.C. Highway Patrol are on scene investigating the accident.

UPDATE (3/11/24 7:50 p.m.) – Drivenc.gov is reporting the incident on I-73/74 at the West Presnell Street exit has been cleared and the interstate is back open.
