VICE Conducts Search Warrant, Finds Drugs & Guns at Asheboro Home

ASHEBORO N.C. – The Asheboro Police Department VICE/ Narcotics unit conducted a search warrant at the home of a man on house arrest in Asheboro where they say they found drugs and guns.

On Feb 8th 2022, the VICE/Narcotics unit along with the Special Enforcement Team of the Asheboro Police Department executed a search warrant at a home on Lakeview Rd. Police had obtained a search warrant for the home as well as for Jamie Edward York and Laura Elizabeth Dawson.

Police say when executing a search warrant they located 3 firearms, including 2 handguns,one of which was determined to be stolen, and a sawed off shotgun. Detectives also reported they found approximately 41 grams of suspected methamphetamine, pills, marijuana, and
numerous items of drug paraphernalia.

Jamie Edward York

Jamie Edward York was charged with Possession of a Firearm by Felon, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Possession of a Weapon of Mass Destruction, Trafficking in Methamphetamine by Possession, Trafficking in Methamphetamine by Manufacture, PWIMSD Schedule II Controlled Substance, Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia, Simple Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance, and Simple Possession of Schedule VI Controlled Substance.
He was also served with 3 Orders for Arrest for Felony Probation Violation and 2 Orders for Arrest for Failure to Appear.
York was transported to the Randolph County Jail where he was taken before the Magistrate who found probable cause for his arrest and issued him a $193,000 secured bond. His court date was set for Feb 9th 2022. York is still confined at the Randolph County Jail.

Laura Elizabeth Dawson was also charged with Trafficking in Methamphetanüne by Possession,
Trafficking in Methamphetamine by Manufacture, PWID Schedule Controlled Substance,
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Simple Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance, and Simple Possession of Schedule Controlled Substance. Dawson was also served with a Warrant for Arrest for Interfering With an Electronic Monitoring Device and a Order for Arrest for
Failure to Appear.
Dawson was also transported to the Randolph County Jail where she was taken before Magistrate Bartorelli who found probable cause for her arrest and issued her a $67,500 secured bond. Her court date was set for Feb 9th 2022.
