ASHEBORO N.C. - The Randolph County Sheriff's Office says they have arrested a registered sex offender who was on school grounds in Randolph County several times late last month. According to a press release from the Sheriff's Office, on September 26th, 2023, the Sheriff’s Office's Sex Offender Registry Detective was notified that Michael Delano Foster of Davidson County, a registered sex offender, had been on school grounds in Randolph County. According to the NC State Bureau of Investigations Sex Offender and Public Protection Registry, Foster was convicted in 2006 for two sexual offenses involving a minor under the age of thirteen in Guilford County. Woman Arrested for Felony Trafficking After Police Locate 8lbs of Heroin

RANDLEMAN N.C. - A Virginia woman has been arrested and is facing felony trafficking charges after police say the located over eight pounds of heroin in her vehicle. On September 30th, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Team conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 73/74 in Randleman. According to a press release, during that traffic stop deputies searched the vehicle and say they located and seized approximately 8 ½ pounds of heroin. The suspect, identified by the Sheriff's Office as Lori Kristen Price of Roanoke, VA, was arrested and transported to Randolph County Jail. ASHEBORO N.C. - Charges are catching up with the driver of a stolen motorcycle with active warrants who fled from police late last month. In a press release the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office says that on September 22nd, 2023, a deputy attempted to pull over a motorcycle on Turnpike Rd., in Archdale, but the driver failed to stop leading to a pursuit. That chase continued to the intersection of Meadowbrook Road and Kennedy Road where the Sheriff's Office says the driver slowed down and appeared to be turning right, before losing control and crashing into a ditch on Kennedy Road across from Meadowbrook Road. According to a vehicle accident report completed by the Asheboro Police Department, on September 11th, 2023, at around 3 p.m., an officer was towing the trailer on US-220 Bus when the trailer came unattached from the vehicle, impacted the roadway, and rolled for approximately fifty feet before coming to a rest on the side of the roadway. The report states the accident was caused by another officer, not the one driving the vehicle, who failed to properly secure the trailer prior to transit. ...

ASHEBORO N.C. - This week the Randolph County Sheriff's Office Criminal Apprehension Team located and arrested a suspect from a vehicle pursuit that occurred back in July. According to a press release, on July 13th, 2023, a Deputy with the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office observed a vehicle with a fictitious tag and attempted to pull the vehicle over, but the driver fled leading to a vehicle pursuit. The Sherriff's Office says the driver continued at a high rate of speed and drove in the opposite lane of travel westbound on Lexington Rd. until the deputy lost sight of the vehicle. Wildlife Resources Commission (NCWRC) announced today that zebra mussels, a harmful invasive aquatic species, have been identified in an Iredell County waterbody. This is the first time this species has been identified in the wild in North Carolina. On Thursday, September 21, 2023, NCWRC, with assistance from scuba divers from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, investigated and confirmed a report of zebra mussels in a quarry on private property. According to a press release from the Sheriff's Office, on September 11, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Vice and Narcotics Unit concluded an investigation related to the distribution of Cocaine in the Seagrove area ofRandolph County. Stock Photo - (Karen Roach / Adobe Stock) ASHEBORO N.C. - The Randolph County Sheriff's Office would like to get the word out to citizens about a phone scam in which scammers claim they are with the Sheriff's Office and attempt to get citizens to "pay a fine" or be arrested. The Sheriff's Office says they have received multiple reports of someone calling citizens in the county pretending to be a Deputy with the Randolph County Sheriff's Office, stating the individual missed a mandated appearance for Jury Duty and need to pay a fine to avoid being arrested. These scammers are using a technique called "spoofing" to make it appear that they are calling from the Sheriff's Office. They then tell the citizen to look up the number to "verify" where they are calling from, and warn them n...
