ASHEBORO N.C. - The owner of a vehicle was arrested on felony drug charges after three juveniles took his vehicle from a party to get more alcohol and were stopped by deputies and troopers in Seagrove on Sunday. According to a press release from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, on January 8, 2023, deputies conducted a traffic stop on NC HWY 705 and Lawrence Farm Rd., in Seagrove. During the investigation, it was determined that the three underage juvenile occupants had been at a party in the area. A search of the vehicle located a firearm, twenty-seven individually packaged and sealed oil cartridges containing THC/CBD, marijuana, and psilocybin psychedelic mushrooms. ASHEBORO N.C. - Detectives with the Asheboro Police Department are investigating after the Hardees in Asheboro was robbed at gunpoint in the middle of the day. On January 5th, 2023, just before 3pm, officers responded to the Hardee’s located at 457 East Dixie Drive in reference to a panic alarm. According to Asst Police Chief Robbie Brown with the Asheboro Police Department, while officers were enroute communications advised the business had been robbed. When officers arrived, they determined a white male wearing a grey jacket, blue pants, dark blue or black work gloves, sunglasses, and a black and white face mask had produced a handgun and demanded money. ASHEBORO N.C. - A wanted man is facing multiple charges after authorities say while attempting to flee from deputies the suspect rammed a patrol car before almost crashing into a home earlier this week. According to a press release, on December 26th, 2022, Deputies with the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office were searching the Ramseur/Liberty areas for Jimmy Ray Pearson, who had multiple outstanding warrants. ASHEBORO N.C. - Asheboro Police Officers were involved in a vehicle pursuit after trying to pull over a suspect they believe was connected to several vehicle break-ins at a local apartment complex last week. According to information from the Asheboro Police Department, officers were notified of several 911 calls reporting at least five vehicles broken into at Summers Run Apartments. Police say they were able to determine the suspect's vehicle. That vehicle, which had been reported stolen out of Greensboro, was spotted and sped away when officers attempted to pull it over on a traffic stop. ASHEBORO N.C. - An elderly pedestrian walking along US 220 in Randleman last night when he was fatally struck by a vehicle in an accident. According to a press release from the NC State Highway Patrol, at 10:07 pm on Thursday, December 15th, 2022, troopers responded to the report of a crash that occurred on US 220 Business near New Salem Road in Randolph County. Glenn Chriscoe, 83, of Randleman, NC, was traveling as a pedestrian, north on US 220 Business. A driver was traveling north on US 220 Business in a 2016 Nissan Altima. That driver struck Chriscoe in the roadway. Chriscoe died on-scene, the driver was uninjured during the collision. ASHEBORO N.C. - The Randolph County Sheriff's Office and the Randolph County DA's Office say that no one will face charges after a man died from being stabbed after breaking in and assaulting a victim with a Domestic Violence Protective Order against him. On December 13th, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Stanton Rd for a call about an assault. Deputies spoke with the victim, who stated she had gotten into an argument with her boyfriend who had left the scene prior to the deputies' arrival.
