(fotosr52/Adobe Stock) ASHEBORO N.C. - Police say they arrested an Asheboro man who while driving under the influence overdosed and crashed into a yard yesterday morning. According to a police report from the Asheboro Police Department on Nov 14th, 2022, at around 3:30am officers were called to a vehicle accident on N Main St in Asheboro. When they arrived, they located the vehicle on top of a rock wall in the yard of a home. Police say the suspect appeared to be overdosing and was given several doses of Narcan. The driver, whom police identified as 28-year-old David M Davis of Asheboro, was transported to a local medical facility. ASHEBORO N.C. - A local man who fled from house arrest almost a year ago, led Police in Asheboro on a foot chase before being arrested last week.  Jordan Lamar Billings placed on EHA with Randolph County Sheriff’s Office on July 29th, 2021, for multiple charges. According to a press release on December 7th, 2021, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Electronic House Arrest (EHA) Officers received information that Billings monitoring device was not charged, leading them to discover that Billings had let the bracelet go dead, cut it off, and left it in a mailbox.  The Sheriff’s Office obtained an Order for Arrest for Billings for Violation of Pre-Trial Conditions of Release/EHA. The Culinary Arts students of Southwestern Randolph High School, the "Culinary Cougars," are gearing up for their 7th Annual Holiday Pie Sale. The Culinary Cougars will bake six varieties of pie from scratch to raise money for culinary competitions. For this year’s sale, students will prepare pies in time for Thanksgiving meals. Homemade pecan, sweet potato, pumpkin, Dutch apple crumb, chocolate chip walnut, and chocolate chip (nut free) will be available for pick-up or delivery on Tuesday, Nov. 22. All pies are $10. ASHEBORO N.C. - A local woman is facing several charges after the Sheriff's Office says she pulled a gun on deputies attempting to perform a welfare check at the home last week. According to a press release from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, on November 3rd, 2022, deputies responded to Low Bridge Rd., in Liberty, to conduct a welfare check of children following a domestic dispute. The Sheriff's Office says when deputies arrived a female, whom they identified as Melisa Ann Herriott, opened the front door of the residence, and simultaneously pointed a handgun directly at one of the deputies. According to a police report from the Asheboro Police Department, during the month of October 2022 the Department's VICE/ Narcotics UNIT investigated Anthony Terrell Little for distributing narcotics in the City of Asheboro. Daylight Saving Time started on March 13th, 2022, when clocks were set an hour forward. Thirty-four weeks later DST is set to end at 2 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 6th, 2022. With accurate trimming being necessary for accurate GPS which runs everything from navigation to timing of banking transactions most clocks change their time automatically taking some of the sting out of the change. ASHEBORO N.C. – The Asheboro Rotary Club and the Asheboro/Randolph Chamber of Commerce will come together to put on the 6th annual Field of Honor later this month. Starting on Friday, November 11th, and running through Sunday, November 13, the baseball field at South Asheboro Middle School will covered with 500 U.S. flags in recognition of veterans, active-duty service men and women, and first responders. Throughout the weekend, the public will be able to visit the Field of Honor and walk among the flags anytime, day or night.
