RANDLEMAN N.C. - Crews from the Level Cross Fire Department, bringing the departments squad truck to Randleman for service, had to call fellow firefighters after a small electrical fire started inside the truck. Early this afternoon two firefighters with the Level Cross Fire Department were bringing the departments old squad truck (used for medical and rescue calls) into Randleman to diagnose a problem with the apparatus was having starting. According to officials on scene a small electrical fire started in the center console, where the radios and other equipment for lighting and sirens are located. AAA says they predict around 47.9 million people will travel 50 miles or more from home during the holiday weekend from June 30th to July 4th. ASHEBORO N.C. - At around 5:30 pm firefighters with the Asheboro Fire Department were called to 554 E Dixie Dr in Asheboro. A 911 caller reported a pick-up truck at the back of the carwash next the Cookout was on fire. When crews arrived they found an older model Chevrolet Silverado 2500 on fire at the back of the parking lot near Cox Ave. The fire was quickly extinguished. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is not yet know.

The Randolph County Sheriff's Office says on Saturday, June 25th, 2022, they responded to Ridge Rd in Seagrove after receiving a 911 call regarding an alleged self-inflicted gunshot wound. They identified the victim as 37-year-old MJ (Mishael James) Auman, and say he was transported to an area hospital by emergency personnel where he succumbed to his injuries. Michael Dwayne Wilkerson, age 34, was last seen by family on September 15th, 2011, in the area of Burney Road and New Hope Church Road in Asheboro.. Police say they located a wrecked pickup truck that same day which had Wilkerson's cell phone in it but there was no one in or around the totaled truck. The Sheriff's Office says the last call made on that cell phone wasphone had been made about 2:30 am. ASHEBORO N.C. - A local school counselor who recently resigned after allegations that he was messaging students inappropriately is now facing multiple felony sex crime charges. According to a press release from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office on May 29th 2022, they received a report of sexual offense allegations against Adam David Duncan. Between May 29th and May 30th 2022 at least 2 former students posted screenshots on Facebook of messages they say they had received from Duncan, both when they were still students as well as recently. According to Randolph County Schools Duncan worked at Wheatmore High School from August 15th 2012 until he transferred to Liberty Elementary School on August 19th 2019. RANDLEMAN N.C. - A bicyclist was airlifted in critical condition this evening after being struck while crossing the street in front of Sir Pizza in Randleman. According to officials on the scene at 6:42 pm Randolph County 911 dispatched the Randleman Police and Fire Departments along with Randolph County EMS to 413 S Main St. A 911 caller reported a bicyclist who was crossing the street was struck by a vehicle. ASHEBORO N.C. - The Asheboro Police Department says two suspects of a possible home invasion were injured after the homeowner opened fire, hitting them both this morning. This morning just after 4:30 am, officers with the Asheboro Police Department's patrol division were dispatched to the area of Underwood Street in reference to a 911 hang-up call. The officers learned from 911 that there was a subject with a gunshot wound nearby at 1634 Traci Street. When officers arrived on Traci Street they located a male at the rear of the residence suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
