Pedestrian Taken To Hospital After Being Struck By Vehicle On Sunset Ave

ASHEBORO N.C. - A pedestrian was taken to the hospital late Saturday night after being struck by a driver off of Sunset Ave in Asheboro. According to an accident report by the Asheboro Police Department, the collision occurred on Saturday Nov 13th 2021 just after 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of Sunset Ave and Dixon St. Police say the driver, Juan Carlos De of Asheboro, was making a turn off of Sunset Ave and on to Dixon Ave when he struck a 68 year old male crossing the road heading home to the apartments on Sunset Ave. Police charged the driver with failure to yield the right of way to a pedestrian and for driving without a license. We’ve heard there is a phone scam going around again that there is a warrant for a person's arrest in Randolph County and to press 0 for more information.Do not press zero!!! HANG UP!They would just tell you that you owe a certain amount of money immediately or they will come and arrest you. ALSO, Please DO NOT send any form of money to these scammers! And do not volunteer any personal identifying information.For a warrant, the Sheriff’s Office will visit in person. ASHEBORO NC - Tonight we get back that hour of sleep we lost back in March as we “fall back” to the time of year when it gets dark at 4:30 in the afternoon. At 2 AM on Sunday November 7th clocks will be set back 1 AM to repeat the hour. Originally started in the US in 1918 as a war-time measure to help conserve energy, the tradition stayed around after the war and is still going today. Does it actually conserve energy? Freeze Warning Issued For Randolph County For Friday

ASHEBORO NC - The National Weather Service in Raleigh has issued a freeze warning from 2 AM to 10 AM on Friday. Temperatures as low as 30 degrees are expected in Randolph and surrounding counties. Frost and freeze conditions will kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing. The National Weather Service says now is the time to take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-ground pipes to protect them from freezing.

Remains Found In Asheboro Home Were Not Human Says SBI

According to information released by the Randolph County Sheriff's Office, on October 30th 2021, their deputies were called to a citizens assist at a home one Grantville Lane in Asheboro. A citizen had found what appeared to be a bone in the subflooring of their home while remodeling and were concerned it was human. Criminal Investigations and Crime Scene Investigations responded and collected the object in question which was sent to the SBI lab in Raleigh for analysis and further investigation. Troopers investigate a single vehicle accident where a car flipped over and caught fire injuring one on Nov st 2021. (Scott Pelkey / Acme News) TRINITY NC - One person was taken to the hospital after being involved in a single vehicle accident where the car flipped over and caught fire. Randolph County 911 received the first call about the accident at 1:19 PM on Nov 1st 2021. Callers reported a single vehicle accident on Covered Bridge Rd near Harris Rd in Trinity. They told dispatchers that a car had flipped over and was smoking. The sole occupant of the vehicle was a pregnant female who was able to safely get out.
