ASHEBORO NC - The Asheboro Police Department says they are investigating a death near the Motel 6 in Asheboro this morning and they don't suspect foul play. According to a press release by the department on Thursday, October 28th, 2021, just after 7 AM, officers with the Asheboro Police Department responded to 901 Albemarle Road for a call about a male on the ground, unconscious and not breathing. Fire and EMS personnel were unable to resuscitate the victim and he was pronounced deceased at the scene. Detectives with the Asheboro Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division responded and are investigating. The victim was identified as Dennis Brandon Hill, age 34, of Asheboro. It’s an article that is worth reading. ASHEBORO NC – An overdose call Saturday morning led to Liberty Police finding 3 people deceased, 2 more taken to an area and hospital, and a Greensboro man being charged in connection to the deaths. According to a press release from the Liberty Police Department, Liberty Police, Fire and Randolph County EMS were called to Johnson's Mobile Home Park on W Moffitt Ave on Saturday October 16, 2021, after receiving a call about 3 unresponsive persons. When they arrived they found 3 individuals who were deceased and another 2 individuals police described as very ill. Those two persons were treated at Chatham Hospital and later released. ASHEBORO NC - One-stop early voting for the November 2nd, 2021 municipal elections starts today and will continue through the end of October. Early voting began this morning and will continue until 7 P M as well as Friday the 15th from 8 AM to 5 PM.Starting Monday and lasting through Oct. 29, voting will run Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays, and 8 AM to 7 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays.The last day of early voting on Saturday, Oct. 30 will run from 8 AM to 3 PM. Randolph Community College / Acme News Stock Image ASHEBORO NC - Randolph Community College will be conducting a drill of it emergency notification system tomorrow. The campus wide lockdown drill is planned for Thursday, October 14, between 12 PM and 4 PM for both the Asheboro and Archdale campuses. Messages sent to students and staff on campus, heard on loudspeakers, and received via RCC Alerts will NOT say test or drill. Everyone on campus at the time is requested to and follow all protocols and procedures for an active shooter / threat. Officials at the community college are requesting everyone be aware that the drill is only a test but that all alarms and alerts should be taken seriously and is requesting everyone be prepared to respond appropriately.

ASHEBORO NC — It was quite the weekend for a local family after fire and rescue crews were called to help free a horse from a muddy pond. According to a press release by the NC Highway Patrol, at 6:53 PM on Sunday, September 19th, 2021, troopers responded to the report of a crash that occurred on I-85 near Hopewell Church Road in Randolph County. Troopers say a single vehicle traveled off the roadway to the left, went down into the median and overturned. The vehicle then traveled across all southbound lanes of I-85 and came to rest on the southbound shoulder of the interstate.
