ASHEBORO N.C. - Four suspects who were found in a vacant home in Archdale were arrested last weekend and charged with breaking and entering. On April 29th, 2023, Sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a burglary in progress on Zelma Blvd., in Archdale. According to information released by the Randolph County Sheriff's Office, when deputies arrived, they located and detained four suspects who were inside the residence. When deputies contacted the property owner, they advised they were in the process of removing the home and that no one should be inside. Stabbing at Dunham’s in Asheboro Sends One to Hospital

[Scott Pelkey | North State Journal] ASHEBORO N.C. - One person was taken to the hospital after a reported stabbing at the Randolph Mall Tuesday evening. On April 25th, 2023, at around 6:15 pm, police were called to the Dunham's Sports store at the Randolph Mall for a report of a stabbing. According to Robbie Brown, Assistant Chief of Police with the Asheboro Police Department, the victim reported he was assaulted by several black males while in the business. The victim was transported to a local medical facility for treatment, no update on their condition is available at this time and no information about the individuals involved can be released due to their age. Brown says the case has been assigned to a detective in Criminal Investigations Division.

ASHEBORO N.C. - One person is in jail after Asheboro Police were called to a report of a shooting in an Asheboro neighborhood late Monday night. On April 24th, 2023, at around 10:30 pm, officers responded to a home on Chestnut St for a report of gun shots being heard in the area. While officers were responding Randolph County 911 reported they were taking a call for a possible gunshot wound from the same incident. When officers arrived on scene, they saw a suspect walking next to the roadway holding a handgun in their right-hand walking away from the scene of the shooting. ASHEBORO N.C. - A man from Lexington is facing multiple charges after the Sheriff's Office says he held a woman against her will overnight in his vehicle. On April 21st, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Meadow Ct., in Trinity, for a report of an assualt. According to a press release from the Sheriff's Office, the victim reported that Roy Lee Evans, of Lexington, had held her against her will inside his vehicle throughout the night and assaulted her. Evans reportedly released her around 7:00 am and was told to leave. She was discovered by other people in the residence when they awoke and called 911. ASHEBORO N.C. - Deputies located a man with multiple warrants sleeping in a barn in Randleman earlier this week. On April 16, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Stanton Farm Rd. and Hockett Dairy Rd., in Randleman, to locate wanted subject, Steven Lamar Hughes, Jr. According to a press release from the Sheriff's Office, Hughes was located sleeping in the loft of a barn and was taken into custody without incident. He was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where he was served with three orders for arrest out of Davidson County and received a $7,500 secured bond. Jonathan Cass Carter A True Bill of Indictment was issued on Jonathan Cass Carter for felony habitual breaking/entering. The indictment was issued as a result of an investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division. On April 11th, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Waynick Meadow Rd., Asheboro, in reference to a residential fire. When deputies arrived fire crews on scene had already contained the fire. According to a press release from the Sheriff's Office, deputies had responded to two earlier calls at the same residence for arguments between persons living at the address. ASHEBORO N.C. - The driver of a motorcycle who tried to flee from police Sunday was arrested after crashing his motorcycle. On April 9th, 2023, a Randolph County Sheriff’s Deputy attempted to pull over a motorcycle near US Hwy 220 S. According to a press release, the driver fled onto Old State Highway starting a vehicle pursuit and onto US HWY 220 S. from Virgil Hill Road where he lost control of the motorcycle and crashed. Police say the driver, who was identified as Richard Anthony Vestal, Jr fled on foot but was quickly apprehended. ASHEBORO N.C. - A Randleman woman is facing multiple felony drug charges in two separate cases from last month according to the Sheriff's Office. On March 21st, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Team, assisted by the Vice and Narcotics Division, initiated a traffic stop on I-73 in Randleman. According to a press release, a vehicle driven by Tracey Canoy Corum was pulled over, a search was conducted, and a trafficking amount of heroin was located, along with amphetamine and US currency. Corum was transported to the Randolph County Jail where probable cause was found for the charges of two counts felony trafficking in heroin, as well as other drug charges. ASHEBORO N.C. - Earlier today we reported on data from the Sheriff's Office showing in March of this year the agency investigated eight vehicle thefts, making up almost half of the reported vehicle thefts so far this year. As a follow up to that article (which you can read here), we are detailing just a few of the cases we are aware of from March. In early February detectives with the Criminal Interdiction Team were investigating two reports of stolen vehicles on Oakland Ave, in Asheboro. According to the Sheriff's Office, detectives discovered that the vehicles sold by Harley Marie Roark Davis and Lashanda Kay Schwarcbher for scrap metal.
