ASHEBORO N.C. - Over the weekend Asheboro Police responded to a call about shots fired just a block away from the police station. According to a police report from the Asheboro Police Department, on Nov 12th, 2022, officers responded to the area of S Fayetteville St. and W. Academy St. in reference to a report of shots fired. Randolph County 911 advised that the occupants of two vehicles, a white passenger car and a black passenger car, were shooting at each other as the vehicles were traveling on the roadway. Officers saturated the area but did not locate either vehicle or any victims. A police sergeant located eleven spent 9mm shell casings in the roadway which were placed into evidence. (fotosr52/Adobe Stock) ASHEBORO N.C. - Police say they arrested an Asheboro man who while driving under the influence overdosed and crashed into a yard yesterday morning. According to a police report from the Asheboro Police Department on Nov 14th, 2022, at around 3:30am officers were called to a vehicle accident on N Main St in Asheboro. When they arrived, they located the vehicle on top of a rock wall in the yard of a home. Police say the suspect appeared to be overdosing and was given several doses of Narcan. The driver, whom police identified as 28-year-old David M Davis of Asheboro, was transported to a local medical facility. ASHEBORO N.C. - A local man who fled from house arrest almost a year ago, led Police in Asheboro on a foot chase before being arrested last week.  Jordan Lamar Billings placed on EHA with Randolph County Sheriff’s Office on July 29th, 2021, for multiple charges. According to a press release on December 7th, 2021, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Electronic House Arrest (EHA) Officers received information that Billings monitoring device was not charged, leading them to discover that Billings had let the bracelet go dead, cut it off, and left it in a mailbox.  The Sheriff’s Office obtained an Order for Arrest for Billings for Violation of Pre-Trial Conditions of Release/EHA. ASHEBORO N.C. - A local woman is facing several charges after the Sheriff's Office says she pulled a gun on deputies attempting to perform a welfare check at the home last week. According to a press release from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, on November 3rd, 2022, deputies responded to Low Bridge Rd., in Liberty, to conduct a welfare check of children following a domestic dispute. The Sheriff's Office says when deputies arrived a female, whom they identified as Melisa Ann Herriott, opened the front door of the residence, and simultaneously pointed a handgun directly at one of the deputies. On October 9th, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to High Point St, in Randleman for a call about an armed robbery that had occurred on Interstate 73/74. When the police arrived, they located the victim who had obvious injuries. The victim told police that he was riding with a “friend” who he was allowing to drive his new vehicle. ASHEBORO N.C. - The Ramseur Police Department say they have charged a Randleman man with first degree murder after a child died from suspected abuse. On Aug 31st, 2021, Investigators with the Ramseur Police Department received a call from the Randolph Health Emergency Department about a 14-month-old child that had sustained serious injuries related to suspected child abuse. That child was being transferred to Brenner's Children's Hospital's Pediatric ICU. Despite undergoing surgery on Sept 5th, 2022, the child succumbed to its injuries. ASHEBORO N.C. - Police arrested a man last night after they we called to a local motel for a stabbing. On September 21st, 2022, just after 7:30 pm, the Asheboro Police Department were called to 827 Albemarle Road in reference to a stabbing.  According to officials with the police department, when officers arrived, they spoke with the victim who reported he had been assaulted. The officer noted wounds to the victim's head however they refused to be transported by EMS. On September 13, 2022, at approximately 4:21 am, Randolph County 911 operators began receiving calls reporting burglaries of vehicles in the Sophia, Archdale, and Trinity areas. That morning deputies responded to thirty seperate addresses by 9 am and reported fifty vehicles had been entered.
