(Photo provided by the Asheboro Police Department) ASHEBORO N.C. - A speed trailer used by the Asheboro Police Department was damaged in an accident earlier this month after an officer failed to properly secure it prior to towing. According to a vehicle accident report completed by the Asheboro Police Department, on September 11th, 2023, at around 3 p.m., an officer was towing the trailer on US-220 Bus when the trailer came unattached from the vehicle, impacted the roadway, and rolled for approximately fifty feet before coming to a rest on the side of the roadway. The report states the accident was caused by another officer, not the one driving the vehicle, who failed to properly secure the trailer prior to transit. ...

ASHEBORO N.C. - A vehicle crash in the early morning hours of November 30th, 2022, closed all southbound lanes on I-85 in Trinity leaving several people with minor injuries. Just after 4:30 am on Wednesday, November 30th, 2022, emergency crews responded to a vehicle accident on I-85 southbound near Hopewell Church Road in Trinity. According to information from the North Carolina Highway Patrol, David Thorman Reed, 60, of Trinity, N.C., was traveling north on I-85 in a 2005 Chevrolet Equinox. ASHEBORO N.C. - On July 6th a marked patrol vehicle from the Randolph County Sheriff's Office and a City of Asheboro utility vehicle were involved in a crash in Asheboro. On July 6th 2022, just before 11:30am, Asheboro Police and Fire Departments were called to the scene of a vehicle accident on N Fayetteville St near the Big Dipper restaurant. In that accident a marked patrol car from the Randolph County Sheriff's Office and a pickup truck belonging to the City of Asheboro had collided as the patrol car was making a left hand turn across traffic. ASHEBORO N.C. (ACME NEWS)- Repair crews are working to clear downed lines and poles at the intersection of Dixon St and Uwharrie St in Asheboro, after an accident involving a truck. Around 11am the Asheboro Fire Department was dispatched to a reported hit and run at Dixon St and Uwharrie St. Police on scene requested the fire department to respond to assist with traffic control and downed power lines. We are still waiting to hear back from the Asheboro Police Department about what exactly led to the accident.
