That number comes from the government's new heat.gov website. The National Integrated Heat Health Information System (NIHHIS) officially launched the site today following an online webinar with news outlets from across the country. [Scott Pelkey / Acme News] [ASHEBORO N.C.] July 7th 2022, 11PM - Investigators are gathering evidence and trying to piece together what led to a shooting in Asheboro this evening. Just after 8pm, police, firefighters, and paramedics were dispatched to Cross St for a call about a gunshot wound. Within minutes Randolph County 911 received a 2nd call for a gunshot wound on nearby Frank St. Randolph County EMS transported and unknown number of people from the scene. Randolph Hospital's emergency room was temporarily placed on lockdown with Deputies from the Randolph County Sheriff's Office stationed out front and on White Oak st. (ACME NEWS) - A woman was arrested Friday night on multiple felonies, misdemeanors, and traffic violations after police say she led them on a vehicle chased that ended in a crash in the Archdale/Trinity area. A press release from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office says that on June 10, 2022, a deputy tried to pull over a driver near Trinity Road. That driver refused to stop and led police on a high speed vehicle chase. According to 911 radio traffic the driver of the vehicle turned on to Fairview Church Road and then on to Flora Mae Drive where the suspects vehicle lost control at the top of a hill on Flora Mae Drive leading to the vehicle rolling over. ASHEBORO N.C. (ACME NEWS)- Repair crews are working to clear downed lines and poles at the intersection of Dixon St and Uwharrie St in Asheboro, after an accident involving a truck. Around 11am the Asheboro Fire Department was dispatched to a reported hit and run at Dixon St and Uwharrie St. Police on scene requested the fire department to respond to assist with traffic control and downed power lines. We are still waiting to hear back from the Asheboro Police Department about what exactly led to the accident. No Injuries After Fire At Asheboro Furniture Plant

Firefighters with the Asheboro Fire Department on the scene of a fire at a local Furniture plant on May 26th 2022.. (Scott Pelkey / Acme News) ASHEBORO N.C. - Early this afternoon firefighters with the Asheboro Fire Department responded to a report of a pile of sawdust on fire at a local Furniture plant. According to Samantha East, Public Information Officer with the Asheboro Fire Department, at 11:46 am, crews were dispatched to a commercial fire at Jackson Furniture, located at 136 E Dorsett Ave. Crews arrived on scene to find sawdust on fire and were able to quickly extinguish the fire. No injuries were reported and firefighters cleared the scene at 12:55 pm. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

(ACME NEWS)- Police say a fight between employees at the Asheboro Wendy's ended with both employees stabbing one another, triggering a lockdown at the nearby high-school and middle school. According to a press release from the Asheboro Police Department, on May 16, 2022, at 10:22 am, officers and first responders were dispatched to a stabbing at Wendy’s, located at 623 West Dixie Drive Asheboro. According to the police department the incident started as a fight between two employees, which resulted in both employees stabbing one another. (ACME NEWS) - A truck driver with Chandler Concrete was killed in an accident last week after his truck overturned while making a turn onto a highway entrance ramp in Asheboro. On Tuesday April 19th 2022, at around 11:30 am emergency crews were dispatched to the scene of a single vehicle accident on the I-73/74 NB entrance ramp at W Salisbury St. When crews arrived they found the driver in critical condition trapped in the cab of an overturned concrete truck.
