TRINITY N.C. - A driver is facing felony drug charges and misdemeanor DUI and gun charges after police say they found him and his passenger asleep at an intersection in a running vehicle. On October 20th, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff's Office responded to the intersection of NC Hwy 62 and Surrett Dr., in Trinity, for a welfare check on a vehicle stopped at an intersection with the driver slumped over at the wheel. According to a press release from the Sheriff's Office, when the deputy approached the vehicle they smelled the "strong odor of marijuana and alcohol emitting from the vehicle and an open bottle of alcohol was observed in the backseat of the vehicle." (ASHEBORO ABC) - The Asheboro ABC Board is pleased to announce the availability of 3rd and 4th quarter 2023 grant funds for the treatment of alcoholism or substance abuse or for research or education on alcohol or substance abuse.  Available funds are dependent upon sales and cannot be determined at this time.  Based upon past revenues, estimated 3rd quarter funds will total $10,000 (available in late October 2023) and estimated 4th quarter funds will total $15,000 (available in late January 2024).  Applicants may apply for these funds by submitting the below information to the Asheboro ABC Board, 700 S. ASHEBORO N.C. - An armed individual who fled from police earlier this week was arrested and is now facing multiple charges. That's according to the Randolph Couty Sheriff's Office who says on May 1st, 2023, their deputies responded to Harlow Rd, in the Archdale area, in reference to a reported armed person. Randolph County 911 advised the deputies enroute that an armed suspect had left the scene and provided a description of the vehicle. According to a press release, a deputy responding to the area located the suspect vehicle on Harlow near Tuttle Rd and attempted to conduct a traffic stop but the vehicle fled.
