Upon investigation, it was determined that a burglary had not occurred. Methamphetamine and paraphernalia were located in the residence during the investigation. Whitney Thayer May was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for the charge(s) of felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. Randolph County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Roy Clay Williams, 54, for murder on Tuesday February 27th, 2024, after responding to a report of gunshots and finding a woman dead at the residence on Clark Avenue in Franklinville. Williams was being held without bond at Randolph County Jail after being booked just before midnight and appeared in Randolph County District Court this morning. On the February 9th 2024, at around 9:30 a.m. officers from the Asheboro Police Department were dispatched to 611 East Central Avenue, Apartment C, in reference to a reported assault. According to a press release, officers spoke with the victim who advised she was assaulted by her boyfriend, identified by police as Matthew Thomas Watts.  The victim told officers Watts was inside the residence with their 4-month-old child. SEAGROVE N.C. - A suspect is being held without bond at the Randolph County Jail facing a felony murder charge, according to the Randolph County Sheriff's Office. On January 23, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO) responded to Osborn Mill Rd., Seagrove, in reference to a reported trespassing. Upon arrival, a male subject was located with obvious injuries; including gunshot wounds. The responding deputy began CPR and requested Randolph County EMS. ASHEBORO N.C. – A landlord is facing a felony charge of cruelty to animals after he shot a dog late last week, according to the Sheriff’s Office. On January 19th, 2024, the deputies with the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Whitt Hunt Rd., in Pleasant Garden, for a call about shots being fired. While enroute, Randolph County 9-1-1 advised that the caller reported that a dog had been shot by their landlord John David Whitt, said the Sheriff’s Office in a press release. Upon arrival, the Deputy observed the dog, which was still alive, lying in a driveway. Randolph County Animal Services responded to assist in the investigation. ASHEBORO N.C. - A local man was arrested earlier this week after the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office says he attempted to use flashing red and blue lights to pull over a vehicle in Asheboro. On December 20th, 2023, deputies responded to Meadowbrook Rd. in Asheboro. A caller reported that they had been followed by a vehicle flashing blue and red lights that they did not believe was a law enforcement vehicle.  According to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office, deputies located the vehicle and identified the driver as Dennis Charles Richardson.
