One Arrested in Connection with Burglary of Seagrove Business

SEAGROVE N.C. - One person has been arrested in connection with the burglary of a business in Seagrove. On June 15, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to a burglary in the Seagrove area where a business had been entered and property was taken. According to the Sheriff's Office, Detectives arrived on scene and were able to locate evidence, which led them to a residence on Borough Ave, in Seagrove. With the assistance of the Seagrove Police Department, Detectives approached the residence and spoke with the occupants which led to a search. That search found evidence of the burglary as well as the stolen property from the business. Suspect in Stolen Vehicle Arrested After Vehicle Chase

ASHEBORO N.C. - A suspect in a stolen vehicle who led police on a brief chase last weekend found out making it to the front porch is not home base and was arrested. On June 18th, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to High Pine Church Rd, in Asheboro, for a report of a stolen vehicle. A 911 caller was the victim and was following the stolen vehicle, providing police with a direction of travel. According to a press release from the Sheriff's Office, a deputy was able to intercept the vehicle as it ran a stop sign on High Pine Church Rd and continued onto Hopewell Friends Rd at a high rate of speed. Man Banging on Doors of Closed Business Arrested on Drug Charges

ASHEBORO N.C. - A man who had the police called on him for banging on the doors of a closed business asked police for a ride and was arrested when police say they located drugs on him. On June 18th, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Spanish Ln., in Asheboro, after a caller reported a male was banging on the doors of the business even though it was after hours, and they were closed. Deputies didn’t locate the male on the property but canvassed the area for the suspect, locating him on US Hwy 220 S. sitting on the ground. Driver Charged After Chase with Sheriff’s Office

ASHEBORO N.C. - A driver is facing multiple charges after fleeing from Deputies earlier this month. According to a press release, on June 3rd, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a small black SUV traveling east bound on US Hwy 64 E. at a high rate of speed, on the wrong side of the road. A deputy near Crestwick Rd. and US Highway 64 E. witnessed a black SUV in the center-turning lane, passing vehicles in a no passing zone at a high rate of speed. Driver Charged After Overdose Leads to Crash

ASHEBORO N.C. - A driver is facing multiple charges after the Sheriff's Office says he crashed into a street sign and a patrol vehicle while intoxicated behind the wheel. On June 10th, 2023, Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Deputies returning from a call were traveling westbound on US Hwy 64 E when near Substation Rd (near the 64-bypass split) they observed a vehicle that had crashed into a street sign in the median. ASHEBORO N.C. - The Randolph County Sheriff's Office has charged a local man with sex crimes involving a minor. On May 31, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office says they received a report of sexual acts upon minors. According to a press release, "following an investigation of the allegations, Criminal Investigation Detectives sought charges against Aaron Thomas Garner for three counts of felony first degree statutory sex offense with a child under 13 years of age." On June 6, 2023, Garner was located, arrested, and transported to the Randolph County Jail, where he was served the warrants. ASHEBORO N.C. - The victim of a theft in Asheboro back in November of 2022, located a suspect who had allegedly stolen property on Facebook Marketplace, but the suspect wasn't charged in Randolph County until last week because he kept getting arrested in other counties. On November 10th, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to US 220 Bus. S., in Asheboro, for a report of a larceny. The victim reported an unknown white male entered the property and drove to the rear of the business during the early morning hours and stole items. Two Search Warrants Lead to Arrest of Three

ASHEBORO N.C. - The Randolph County Sheriff's Office executed two search warrants in connection with drug trafficking in the county, leading to the arrest of three individuals. On April 25, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Vice and Narcotics Division searched a residence located on Shaw St. in Randleman. During the search, Detectives located and seized a trafficking amount of methamphetamine and items of drug paraphernalia. Suspect in Sex Crime Case Arrested in N.Y.

ASHEBORO N.C. - A man wanted as a suspect in a sex crime case in Randolph County was arrested in N.Y. state last month. On February 6th, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office received a report of sexual acts upon minors. An investigation led to Detectives obtaining charges against Sherwin McDonald Edwards for six counts of felony indecent liberties with a child and two counts statutory sex offense with a child under 15 years of age. Efforts to locate Edwards were unsuccessful and on April 17th, 2023, the apprehension case was assigned to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Apprehension Team (CAT) who obtained intel that Edwards had fled from NC. Fort Bragg Soldier Arrested for Sex Crime in Liberty

LIBERTY N.C. - A Fort Bragg soldier is in the Randolph County Jail tonight after police say he traveled to Liberty after soliciting sex with a child. In April of 2023, Liberty Police began an investigation regarding a sex crime involving a child. That investigation revealed that a Fort Brag solider had agreed to pay a family member for sex with a handicapped child. On May 6th, 2023, the soldier, identified by police as Schuyler Grant Naves, was arrested when he arrived in Liberty. He is currently being held on a $1,000,000 bond at the Randolph County Jail and is scheduled to appear in Randolph County Court on June 2nd, 2023.
