According to a press release from the city, Tranquil Time with the Clauses’ is designed for individuals with an intellectual disability to visit with Mr. & Mrs. Claus in a "calm, low sensory environment that will allow the individual to have a magical one on one experience." Direct family members are welcome to attend the event with the participant. ASHEBORO N.C. – The Asheboro Rotary Club and the Asheboro/Randolph Chamber of Commerce will come together to put on the 6th annual Field of Honor later this month. Starting on Friday, November 11th, and running through Sunday, November 13, the baseball field at South Asheboro Middle School will covered with 500 U.S. flags in recognition of veterans, active-duty service men and women, and first responders. Throughout the weekend, the public will be able to visit the Field of Honor and walk among the flags anytime, day or night. ASHEBORO N.C. - Two children are safe after Asheboro Police issued an Amber Alert for a suspected kidnapping earlier tonight. On October 30th, 2022, at approximately 3:26 PM, officers with the Asheboro Police Department responded a residence on Occoneechee Avenue, after a caller reported a kidnapping. According to a press release from Asheboro Police, officers responded and spoke to the complainant, who stated that her two year-old son, DeShawn Devonne Williams, and her four year-old daughter, Londyn Renee Williams, had been taken by their father and uncle. The children’s mother reported that the children were last seen leaving the home in a 2019 Dodge Durango displaying North Carolina registration JMY-3236. ASHEBORO N.C. - Earlier this week the Randolph County Sheriff's Office announced that a search warrant in Asheboro found drugs, cash, and a firearm. According to a press release, on October 26, 2022, the Sheriff’s Office Vice and Narcotics Division, along with the Criminal Interdiction Team and the Asheboro Police Department, executed a search warrant at a residence located on Walnut St. in Asheboro. During that warrant, detectives located and seized Methamphetamine, Fentanyl, Suboxone and items of drug paraphernalia along with US Currency and a firearm were all seized. ASHEBORO N.C. - If you live in the City of Asheboro your water may have a slight chorine smell starting in a few days. On October 10th, 2022, the City of Asheboro posted a notice that water treatment plants would be switching to free chlorine as the primary disinfection treatment starting on Tuesday, November 1st. This change is made once a year and according to the city the treatment is "necessary to ensure optimum water quality throughout the distribution water mains." On October 11th, 2022, just after 10:30 am, officers with the Asheboro Police Department responded to a call about a fight in progress at the intersection of East Pritchard St and Farr St. According to a police report from the incident, when officers arrived, a male stepped out of a vehicle, laid on the ground and put his hands behind his head before confessing to ramming the other vehicle and assaulting both the occupants with a knife.
