(NC DOT) – State and local law enforcement officers will be out in force over the next two weeks as part of the “Labor Day Booze It & Lose It” campaign, officials announced at a campaign launch Monday in Davidson County. Increased patrols and checkpoints will be conducted statewide starting today through Sept. 10, to keep impaired drivers off North Carolina roads. https://youtu.be/1tXdueTwmWk ASHEBORO NC (ACME NEWS) - A driver was arrested under suspicion of DUI after he crashed his truck through a small building in Asheboro over the weekend.  The crash took place just before Noon on Monday September 6th, 2021. According to witnesses the driver left the roadway and struck a street sign before plowing through a small building on display at Modular Home Outlet located at 175 NC Hwy 49 in Asheboro. Police identified the driver as Jose Franciso Gomez from Boone NC. Gomez was evaluated by Randolph County EMS on scene and released to Asheboro Police officers to perform a field sobriety test. According to an arrest report from the Asheboro Police Department Gomez blew a .09%, above the legal limit of .08%. Gomez was transported to the R...
