Landlord Facing Felony Charges for Shooting Dog
ASHEBORO N.C. – A landlord is facing a felony charge of cruelty to animals after he shot a dog late last week, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
On January 19th, 2024, the deputies with the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Whitt Hunt Rd., in Pleasant Garden, for a call about shots being fired.
While enroute, Randolph County 9-1-1 advised that the caller reported that a dog had been shot by their landlord John David Whitt, said the Sheriff’s Office in a press release.
Upon arrival, the Deputy observed the dog, which was still alive, lying in a driveway. Randolph County Animal Services responded to assist in the investigation. However, on January 20, 2024, Animal Services advised that the dog had succumbed to its injuries and that their investigation was complete.
