ASHEBORO N.C. – A landlord is facing a felony charge of cruelty to animals after he shot a dog late last week, according to the Sheriff’s Office. On January 19th, 2024, the deputies with the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Whitt Hunt Rd., in Pleasant Garden, for a call about shots being fired. While enroute, Randolph County 9-1-1 advised that the caller reported that a dog had been shot by their landlord John David Whitt, said the Sheriff’s Office in a press release. Upon arrival, the Deputy observed the dog, which was still alive, lying in a driveway. Randolph County Animal Services responded to assist in the investigation. However, on January 20, 2024, Animal Services advised that the dog had succumbed to its injuries and that their investigation was complete. ...

SEAGROVE N.C. - A Seagrove man is facing multiple charges related to cruelty to animal following a joint investigation by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded and Randolph County Animal Services. On June 5th, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded with Randolph County Animal Services to Little Beane Store Road in Seagrove, to a reported animal cruelty incident.  The Sheriff's Office sent out Crime Scene Investigation and Criminal Investigations to collect evidence for Randolph County Animal Services. ASHEBORO N.C. — A victim woke up to find two burglars in their home before being assaulted and having their dog stolen. According to a press release from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office on November 29th, 2021, their deputies responded to Joe Branson Road in Bennett after getting a call about a breaking and entering and assault. The victim told police they woke up to two subjects entering their bedroom. One of the suspects assaulting the victim before the suspects took a dog from the residence as they left. A driver said her dogs were to blame after crashing into a home in Asheboro (Scott Pelkey / Acme News) ASHEBORO NC (ACME NEWS) - A woman told police her dog was to blame after she crashed into the side of a home at the intersection of Hoover Street and Park Street Tuesday afternoon. The driver of a Jeep SUV was traveling west on Hoover Street with two dogs in the car.
