On February 14th, 2024, just before 6 p.m. Troopers with the N.C. Highway Patrol responded to a crash on Old Liberty Rd, in front of the entrance to the parking lot for the Liberty Police Department. RANDLEMAN N.C. - A driver was charged with driving under the influence last night after crashing into a bar in Randleman.  At around 10:30 p.m., Randleman Fire Department responded to a report of a vehicle that had crashed into Red Zone Sports Bar & Grill, located at 725 S Main St, in Randleman.  Emergency crews arrived to find a dark GMC SUV that had crashed through a gate and into the east side of the building. Randolph County EMS responded to the scene to evaluate the driver, who refused transport to the hospital. No other injuries were reported.  The Randleman Police Department investigated the crash, which led to 27-year-old Peyton Alley Clark being issued a summons for driving under the influence. RANDLEMAN N.C. - A driver who crashed head on into another vehicle while going the wrong way on I-73/74 near Randleman last weekend is facing several charges including DUI and child abuse. Shortly before midnight, Randolph County 911 had received a call from a driver who was taking the Randleman exit off I-73/74 onto West Academy St and reported they were nearly hit by a car that had entered the exit ramp going the wrong direction. Randolph County 911 notified both local police and deputies in the area as well as the highway patrol. ASHEBORO N.C. - A driver is facing felony charges after police say while intoxicated, he fired a shot at the victim's car before ramming it several feet. On January 13th, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to an incident on US 220business just south of McDowell Road after a caller reported an armed person. Upon arrival, deputies met with the caller who said he had been the victim of a road rage incident where his vehicle was shot at before being rammed by another driver. According to a police report from the Asheboro Police Department on Nov 14th, 2022, at around 3:30am officers were called to a vehicle accident on N Main St in Asheboro. When they arrived, they located the vehicle on top of a rock wall in the yard of a home. Police say the suspect appeared to be overdosing and was given several doses of Narcan. The driver, whom police identified as 28-year-old David M Davis of Asheboro, was transported to a local medical facility. ASHEBORO N.C. - A man who was already on house arrest for felony larceny charges was arrested last week after deputies say they stopped him on a stolen excavator which he was operating under the influence. On September 14, 2022, at approximately 3:00 am, a Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Deputy on US Hwy 220 S near Seagrove conducted a traffic stop on a Kubota excavator traveling north bound from the Seagrove area. The male driver, whom the Sheriff's Office identified as Tony Eugene Hiatt, was not provide information that he owned the excavator and according to a press release he appeared to be under the influence. ASHEBORO N.C. - A driver who sped past a police officer last weekend was arrested after being pulled over for speeding once officers realized the driver was intoxicated, with drugs and a gun in the car. On Saturday July 23rd 2022, a patrol officer with the Asheboro Police Department was about to turn onto North Fayetteville Street when they saw a dark in color passenger car drive past them at a high rate of speed. According to a police report, once the officer caught up to the vehicle they matched their speed with the suspect vehicle they estimated the suspect vehicle to be traveling at 86 mph, almost double the posted speed limit of 45mph. ASHEBORO N.C. - A driver is facing a laundry list of charges after police say they found her barely breathing behind the wheel of an SUV last week, after she struck 2 street signs and part of a convenience store on Sunset Ave. According to police reports from the Asheboro Police Department on Wednesday July 13th just before 3:30am, officers responded to 509 Sunset Ave in Asheboro for a report of a suspicious vehicle. When officers arrived they say they located a gray SUV running, with its lights next to a dumpster in a grassy area next the the Quik Chek. Officers noted seeing a pillar from the front awning of the business that had been hit and knocked over by the vehicle.
