FRANKLINVILE N.C. - A vehicle accident on Thursday evening on US Hwy 64 near Foxfire Rd claimed the life of one person with a second person being airlifted with life-threatening injuries. Just after 5 pm on Thursday, June 8th, 2023, emergency crews along with Randolph County EMS and Ash-Rand Rescue responded to the report of a crash that occurred on US 64 at Andrew Hunter Road in Randolph County. According to a press release from the N.C. Highway Patrol, the driver of a Toyota Camry and was stopped at a red light at the intersection of US Hwy 64 and Andrew Hunter Road when another driver, in a 2002 Toyota Avalon, failed to reduce speed striking the rear of the Toyota Camry. FRANKLINVILLE N.C. - A head on collision on US 64 claimed the life of a Franklinville resident on Wednesday afternoon. Just after 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 10th, 2023, emergency crews responded to a vehicle crash on US 64 near Iron Mountain Road. According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, Wanda Cox Allred, 74, of Franklinville, N.C., was traveling west on US 64 operating a 2019 Honda CR-V when a driver of a 2006 Mercedes Benz crossed the centerline, striking her vehicle head-on. Allred died on-scene. The driver of the Mercedes Benz suffered serious life-threatening injuries and was transported to Moses H. Cone Hospital in Greensboro. ASHEBORO N.C. - A pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle and died on scene on I-73 last Friday has been identified by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. At 9:36 p.m. on Friday, November 18 th , 2022, the State Highway Patrol responded to the report of a crash that occurred on I-73 southbound near Pineview Road in Randolph County. Nestor Aroldo Oliveros Ramos, 41, of Lexington, N.C., was traveling as a pedestrian west across I-73 when he was struck by an SUV traveling south. The driver was unable to avoid the pedestrian and Ramos died on scene. Investigators believe that Ramos was under the influence of alcohol when he was struck. ASHEBORO N.C. - A fatal head-on crash on Finch Farm Road in Trinity last night claimed the life of an 18-year-old and sent three others to the hospital with serious injuries. At 9:10 p.m. on Monday, August 29th, 2022, the State Highway Patrol responded to the report of a crash that occurred on Finch Farm Road near Saddle Club Drive in Randolph County. According to a press release from the North Carolina Highway Patrol, 18-year-old Emily Jane McAllister of Trinity, was traveling north on Finch Farm Road in a 2004 Acura TSX when she traveled left of center and struck a Ford Escape traveling in the opposite direction head-on. ASHEBORO N.C. - Two children died, and a their mother was seriously injured overnight in a vehicle crash on I-73, north of Asheboro. Just before 1 a.m, on Monday May 30th 2022, first responders with Westside Fire Department and Randolph County EMS were dispatched to an unknown vehicle accident on I-73/74 northbound, at the Spero Rd exit. As dispatchers gathered more information they learned it was a single vehicle accident with two children severely injured. ASHEBORO N.C. — A driver who was involved in a serious accident in Randolph County Wednesday night died from from his injuries this afternoon. The North Carolina Highway Patrol says at 8:31 p.m. on Wednesday, December 15th, 2021, Troopers responded to a crash on WOW Road near Phillips Road. Forty-Eight year old Christopher Brian Michael from Pine Hall, N.C., was driving south on WOW Road in a when he crossed the center line, traveled off the roadway to the left and overturned. The Highway Patrol says Michael wasn’t wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle during the crash. Michael received serious life-threatening injuries and was airlifted from the scene to UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill. WOW Road remained closed for nearly two hours during the investigation.
