AAA says they predict around 47.9 million people will travel 50 miles or more from home during the holiday weekend from June 30th to July 4th. That number is up 3.7% over 2021, bringing the number of travelers just shy of the numbers in 2019, prior to most COVID-19 Stay at Home orders. https://youtu.be/1tXdueTwmWk ASHEBORO NC (ACME NEWS) - A driver was arrested under suspicion of DUI after he crashed his truck through a small building in Asheboro over the weekend.  The crash took place just before Noon on Monday September 6th, 2021. According to witnesses the driver left the roadway and struck a street sign before plowing through a small building on display at Modular Home Outlet located at 175 NC Hwy 49 in Asheboro. Police identified the driver as Jose Franciso Gomez from Boone NC. Gomez was evaluated by Randolph County EMS on scene and released to Asheboro Police officers to perform a field sobriety test. ASHEBORO NC - A man is facing charges for allegedly possessing a stolen firearm and drugs after going through a license checkpoint last Friday. According to the Randolph County Sherriff's office, on May 7, 2021, the Criminal Interdiction Team conducted a license checkpoint on Vision Drive in cooperation with the Governor’s Highway Safety Program. Deputies encountered a subject who they identified as Musin Shaborr Roberts. According to a press release they conducted an investigation that led to a search of the vehicle where the deputies recovered a stolen firearm, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.Roberts was transported to Randolph County Detention Center where he was charged with Felony Possession Stolen Firearm, Misdemeanor Carrying Concealed Gun, Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana,...
